We have completely updated the contents of this page, removing all references to sold items and adding several more recent purchases.

In our experience these small painted boxes from Tibet are considerably harder to find than the larger storage boxes. We set out to find as many as we could in good condition and with original paint.

As can be seen from the photographs these boxes have much freer designs than the formal elements found on the large storage boxes. Most of the boxes are painted on four sides as well as the top, so they were an ideal canvas for the Tibetan artist to express his feelings toward nature or religious or folk motifs.
