Jewelry from Nepal: Individual Pieces

Like the preceding piece of Nepalese jewelry, the dori necklace, this nau gedi necklace is composed of multiple elements of chased silver filled with resin. It is also worn by the western Tamang people north of Trisuli in the Middle Hills of Nepal.

This necklace is composed of twenty large silver beads and a bell-shaped pendant hung on a thick black wool marcame cord. The overall length of this necklace is 34". Each silver bead is 1-1/8 inches long.
