Jewelry from Nepal: Individual PiecesAccording to Hannelore Gabriel in The Jewelry of Nepal, this form of neck ring was once used throughout western Nepal, but is now only commonly found among the Tharu of the Terai. This piece is either hollow or formed over a very lightweight base as it is quite inflexible yet lightweight. The opening is 2-3/8 inches wide and the overall diameter is 7-1/4 inches. The ends are wrapped with a very fine black cotton thread.
