Jewelry from Nepal: Individual Pieces
Ganesh is one of the most popular gods in Nepal.
This small
amulet can be worn on a cord. Embedded in the crevices are traces of
tika powder. It measures 1-1/2 inches by 1-7/8 inches high.
Like most
Nepalese amulets of this sort the back is soldered on only three sides, leaving a tiny
slit on the fourth side for sliding in a talisman of some sort. Something of some substance
is inside this one, but we haven't done any investigating.
