Naga Jewelry: Beads

Nagaland is a tribal region of India located in hilly country south of Tibet and adjacent to Burma in the far eastern frontier of India. The Nagas have developed a very rich material culture, in which personal adoronment plays a very important part. A person can be identified by the jewelry he or she is allowed to wear, so the wearing of jewelry is not just a matter of economic statue but ritual status as well.

If you wish to learn more about this Naga jewelry or the culture in general, we recommend the book, The Nagas, Hill Peoples of Northeast India by Julian Jacobs, et al [1990]. There in color plates you will see documentation of almost everything we have here.

For prices please send us an email requesting the Naga Bead price list. To assure that your email will pass our Spam filter please add "price list" to the subject line of your email. Blank subject lines will not reach us.
