Tibetan Ritual Objects: Thangkas

We are starting a new series of Featured pages around the category of ritual objects from the Himalayas. We will begin with a display of thangkas. These religious paintings on cloth are found throughout the Buddhist areas of China and Tibet, Nepal, Bhutan, and the Buddhist regions of India.

We have arranged a double column of photos with a full view of the thangka on the left and an enlarged view of the central figure on the right. Both are linked to larger sized photos. Subject, dimensions, and approximate age is indicated beneath the enlarged full view photograph.

When making inquiries about a specific thangka, please be sure to include its inventory number.   A brief description and the dimensions of each thangka can be found on its enlargement page. For prices please send us an email requesting the Thangka Price List.
